It doesn't work for me. I download it, extract it and import the .emerald file but do not appear on Emerald Theme Manager. How can I install it?

I remember I packaged this thing quite terribly. If you unpack it a few times you will get to all the individual images that are used in the theme. The .emerald file is actually a renamed .tar so it should unzip no problem. If you take that folder and manually put it into your theme directory, somewhere under /emerald (probably a hidden file in your home directory) it should show up in your theme list. Sorry it's been a very long time since I used Linux and emerald. Hope this helps :)

Windows 7 since the beta, it's a good operating system. Linux was more of a hobby. Might partition my drive and install Ubuntu again later.

I used Win7, but change back to Ubuntu. Now I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 and is very fast and awesome.

Can we make the cross and the frame separately and then join in Photo-shop.Without getting the transparent borders.

It has been a while since I worked with Emerald. I do believe that the close button (cross?) has to be a separate graphic.

Hey the concept is really good, but the problem here is:
- Maximised windows pushes the close button to almost out of the screen edge.
- Invisible titlebar makes it a little awkward to identify where to hold for drag and drop.
Is there any way to work around? I still love this theme :D you may want to make it perfect then ;)

Nope, unfortunately this is the only way to implement this in emerald, unless it has been updated recently, I haven't used linux in quite a while.

I tried to import this into the Emerald Themer and it accepts the file on import, but it doesn't show up in the themes D:

Any fixes?

Hehe, I incorrectly packaged this them I think. What you should do, is download it, change the extension from .emerald to .tar.gz or whatnot, then extract it (a few time I think). Look for the folder that doesn't have a folder within it, just a bunch of nonsensical junk. Put that into your /.emerald/themes/ directory.

hey i made a "port"(more of a clone) of this for personal use
it includes minimize and maximize/restore buttons,
and i have a version for right side buttons like Windows and left side buttons like OSX
and i was wondering if either i could put this up on my page and attribute you or if you would like to put this in the download package for people who wish to have these buttons for themselves
:]

You may host/distribute this clone anywhere but here on deviantART, with proper credit. So, you can e-mail it to people if they ask, or you can upload it to another site, like gnome-look or customize.org but not here on dA. You may also submit a screenshot of it, with a link to the alternate host (this would be in the screenshots gallery, not linux utilities). I only allow ports of my work to be submitted here. A port would have been this emerald remade for a different program like ~SwaySo's truetransparency port.

Thank you.

ok thank you for clarifying
i wasnt entirely sure what to call it but i guess its a clone?
or would i say its a mod?
and im not gunna get sued if i put it on gnome look or customize?
thank you for taking time to answer my stupidness :p
if you would like i can send it to you so you can view it before i put it up anywhere?

Nope no preview is necessary, and no, I will not sue you. Just keep the main files off dA and everything is cool. Clone, mod, same difference :P. Just remember to give credit where credit is due.

They are not there, I double click for maximizing, and never minimize. It is not very laptop conducive, but since I don't own one, I didn't feel the need to do so.

Could you send me the folder with the theme in it so I can just copy it to /.emerald?
would be so nice, your theme is absolutly amazing

I just checked the file structure, I did do it quite horribly, the drag'n'drop file you are wanting is in there, you just have to dig a little, it is like /amusement/amusement/amusement

When window is maximized, then X goes to next desk. Maybe set the X button as the edge instead of window border (resulting in few pixel fully transparent border).

Because of the way this is set up, I cannot fix that. I never maximize windows anyways, but if you must, I suggest the maxiums (I think it is called something like that) plugin for compiz. I made the emerald for a big screen, because I use 2 of them :P
